TUM GREEN TECH Initiative
We at TUM Green Tech aim to be a thriving community
dedicated to a greener tomorrow.
Through innovation, inspiration, education and networking, we empower
students to take an active role in shaping a sustainable future.
Our Projects
Photocatalysis
We are developing a photocatalytic cell that uses sunlight to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. In a sense, we are making a solar cell, but instead of electricity, the output is hydrogen. Hydrogen is seen as an important step in balancing variable renewable sources and electrifying mobility, where energy dense fuel is needed. The main problem, however, is the supply of green and cheap hydrogen, which we want to solve.
Desalination
- Track A - New Desalination System: We are working on an innovative and sustainable solution to transform seawater into fresh water.
- Track B - Novel Membrane Materials: Our aim is to develop efficient and durable membrane materials for reverse osmosis by enhancing permeability, selectivity, reducing fouling and improving the lifespan.
We are participating at the "XPRIZE Water Scarcity" competition
Enhancing Energy Sovereignity Through Automated Wind Energy Harvesting
- A novel approach to generate, store and transport clean offshore wind energy using autonomous sailboats
- Enhancing our understanding of the ocean health by equipping these sailboats with a variety of sensors
